Con el objetivo de impulsar un proceso de Transformación Social-Ecológica en nuestro país y la región, la Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung en Bolivia (FES Bolivia) lanza una propuesta de un modelo económico que se enmarque en la diversificación de la matriz productiva, la sostenibilidad ambiental y la justicia social.
El presente estudio se enmarca en la promoción del fortalecimiento de cadenas de valor específicas a nivel nacional a través de alternativas viables a los modelos de desarrollo económico vigentes en la región, los cuales se encuentran fuertemente arraigados en la explotación de recursos naturales y la exportación de materias primas. A esto se debe sumar la crisis sanitaria de COVID-19, la cual ha representado un desafío sin precedentes para el país y toda la región.
El continente es reconocido a nivel internacional como una potencia agrícola mundial, sin embargo, pese a esto, organismos internacionales señalaron que esto no la hace inmune a experimentar una crisis aguda en materia de inseguridad alimentaria. Ante esto, es menester una transformación profunda de las prácticas productivas tanto de la región como del país que permita encontrar respuestas y salidas a las crisis socioambientales actuales y futuras.
El objetivo del libro es el de proponer un análisis de las cadenas productivas no solo por su pertinencia en el debate nacional e internacional, sino también porque su metodología se puede adaptar a esta diversidad regional y, al mismo tiempo, ofrecer estrategias de desarrollo que sean social y ecológicamente beneficiosas para el conjunto del país.
Sobre el contenido, este se divide en tres partes. La primera contiene dos estudios que ofrecen una perspectiva del contexto histórico y macroeconómico del problema a analizar y se basan en fuentes estadísticas. La segunda parte expone una investigación pormenorizada de las cadenas productivas de la quinua, el maní y la castaña. Y la tercera parte, enfoca la mirada en las dinámicas de los mercados internos.
